With the release of the first single Hope To Find from the upcoming album SELF by Define One, This Ain’t Music once again shows what the label is all about: musical variety without any limits. Define One is a project of TAM’s core artist Stephan Panev, where he is exploring a totally different side of his musicality. The EP offers three tracks all very different from each other, but all coming from the same person. Listening to them the first word that comes to your mind must be “schizophrenic”. The energetic opener and title track “Hope To Find” can be considered almost as electronic rock. Moving forward the song is carried by an old-school guitar hook combined with huge synths. Towering on top are the mystic vocals that give the track its name. Next up is the “Stephan Panev Remix”, which goes in a totally different direction. A dramatic beginning bridges into a dubstep influenced beat, creating a completely opposite mood compared to the original. The comparison of the first two tracks shows how much Stephan Panev’s music varies from is alias Define One, but all is topped by the final track. After listening to “Song for A” you are completely wondering what just happened. It’s really hard to believe that all this comes from the same mind. The ambient mood is created by a great piano line, which is simple, but still generating many emotions. A beautiful piece of music, that is exclusive to the EP and wont be featured on the album! Overall the EP serves as a perfect introduction for Define One and the variety of music coming from it. The anticipation for the upcoming album SELF is rising.
