Stephan Panev Atom Heart TAM01 Stephan Panevs last release dates quite a while back and was still on his self-managed label Hole. In 2011 a lot changed for him in his private and business life, but we can assure you that music still ranks high among his priorities. With his move to the new founded label This Aint Music he is now able to focus more on his career as an artist and we are happy to present the first result: Atom Heart. Atom Heart itself isnt necessarily new and maybe known to some of his fans, but it symbolizes the ongoing changes in Stephan Panevs musical development. His former heavy techno style is now a more distinct mix of several influences, drifting further away from the dancefloor, challenging the audience to take a closer look and listen. The Original Mix is a blend of new and old Panev trademarks: strong rhythmic basis, melodic keys and synths, all nicely structured to make it more a song than just a track. The Instincts Mix by Stephan Panev is a bit darker and stripped down version that goes even further in direction dubstep. Again his key elements are clearly present, all topped by a set of bells that you wont forget that fast. The upcoming and very talented producer HOPE from Berlin takes on Atom Heart and shows how far a remix can go. The result is a 7-minute statement based on a dub rhythm with clear and distinct sound samples, all layered and arranged precisely to drag the listener deeper into the track. A trip you have to be ready for and an artist you will certainly hear more of in the future. The second remix was done by no other than JPLS, famous for his various releases on Minus. He is known for his experimental minimalistic sound adventures, impressively showcased on his last album The Depths, but here he chooses to connect Atom Heart closer to the dancefloor, which gave the EP something it still needed. A techno beat accompanied by a haunting baseline pushes the track constantly forward and challenges the listener to do the same.
